September 16 , 2009 Brownfields: Recovering from Environmental Hangovers

Brownfields "real property, the expansion, redevelopment, or reuse of which may be complicated by the presence or potential presence of a hazardous substance, pollutant, or contaminant" (US EPA) They litter the national landscape, leaving some of our most valuable locations in legal and public health purgatory and can be very costly to detoxify. We'll talk about programs in Maine to identify, assess and recover lands that are potentially hazardous to our health.
